World Sepsis Day, observed on September 13, aims to raise awareness about this serious and often deadly health issue. Sepsis arises when the body‘s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It may lead to shock, multi-organ failure, and death – especially if not recognised early and treated promptly. It affects between 47 and 50 million people every year, and at least 11 million die; 20% of all deaths worldwide are associated with sepsis.
At Lenis, we strive to provide some of the medications used to treat sepsis. As a sponsor, we also support the annual professional meeting on World Sepsis Day organised by the Infectious Diseases Association of SZD.
